Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! It was fun, but way too short, and I got spoiled getting to take a nap almost every day I was off. When 2pm hit today, I was really wishing for a place to sleep. Cadence loved that she got a basketball goal, and ended up with tons of art stuff, pretty jewelry, sparkly headbands, and new clothes for Emily. Amelia got some new bath toys, a little people castle (which she adores) and jeep, a stroller for her dolls and lots of other random toys that she seems very excited about. Overall, I think they were both very happy with their loot, and have another Christmas with my dad and stepmom this weekend.

I racked up as well. From my mom I got a ton of purple baking supplies, a purple northface jacket with a mixer charm attached, new books, lots of pretty jewelry and Les Miserables on dvd. My sisters got me some awesome boots and a cool sticker for the back of my laptop. Cadence got me a purple brownie maker, and Mike got me some new running shoes, an awesome laptop bag, and Stephen King’s new book 11/22/63. For him, my mom and I went in together and got him tickets to go see Stan Lee in New Orleans at the end of January. He is so excited, and we should officially be buying the tickets at the end of this week!

We also cemented that Amelia has a milk intolerance. We are currently having to stay away from any dairy - no milk, cheese, yogurt, or anything that has those in them. That was loads of fun at Christmas when it meant no lemon icebox pie, rotel dip, poppyseed chicken or mac and cheese. I feel so bad that there are so many good foods she can’t have, but the vomiting, diarrhea, gas pain and stomach cramps just aren’t worth it. We’ve been told to take her off all milk for now, and that hopefully as she gets older we’ll be able to reintroduce it.

Now to what I know you all want to see: Pictures! There are a ton, but it was a very good Christmas! I hope everyone has a wonderful 2012!

Geaux running!

I know I haven’t updated in awhile, so I’m here, ready to update again.

As I said in my last post, I’m still running! I find myself looking at running shoes and clothes and wanting them. And this morning, I actually went running in short shorts and a form fitting workout top! Now, I’m not saying that I looked like some athlete in it, and the people at the park probably wished I wore something else, but I wore it. And was comfortable.

I’ve discovered that I’m now looking forward to getting up and running. I wake at 6am on the days that I’m “off.” I had a short run on Friday, then didn’t do anything Sat and Sunday, and yesterday couldn’t wait to get out there. It’s the strangest thing. Now, I still can’t run more than half a mile without stopping (and most of the time don’t quite make that), but it’s definitely getting eaiser and easier.

The only major problem I’ve run into is the humidity. Now, I know I live in Mississippi, and we have like 10 months of summer a year, but I really figured July would be the worst time to run. Boy, was I wrong! Yes, it’s hot in July, even at 6:30am. But it’s a lot drier then than it is now! Most mornings I feel like I’ve been running under a damp blanket that just came out of the dryer - it’s hot, muggy and so very sticky.

And, like an idiot, I’ve decided this week to try and run every morning instead of just running 3 mornings a week. You would think by looking at my grades through school and the work I do that I’d be at least somewhat smart, but apparently I’m not. Anyhow, I went out this morning for day 2 of my “run every morning” experiment. The heat wasn’t so bad, but by the time I got to the park across the street I was already sweating. I started my warm up to Right Said Fred, and eventually started running. After running for awhile, I started to notice this strange squeaking sound. I could hear it over my headphones, and knew it wasn’t my shoes because it would stop when I was walking. Eventually it hit me what the sound was - so much sweat had gotten down in my sports bra that my boobs were squeaking as I ran. When I finally realized what it was, I didn’t know whether to be grossed out or to laugh hysterically. Hopefully when the weather gets cooler I won’t have this problem anymore. But until then, I guess I’ll just have to deal with squeaky boobs.

I’ve also recently found the greatest pair of shoes. Since “Shoes” is part of the title of this blog, and it’s been awhile since I’ve talked about them, I want to show them off. They are part of the NikeID collection and are cross trainers. I normally don’t covet workout shoes (because let’s face it, most workout shoes all look the same.) However, if you go to Nike.com you can customize these in whatever colors you want. Since we are LSU fans here, and since purple is my favorite color, and since I think yellow looks good with purple, LSU or not, it’s only fitting that my customized shoes be purple and yellow as well. They are SO cute, and if they weren't $98 (or if I was rich, or didn't have a trip to Disney in 3 weeks) I would so buy them. Along with the bag (which I really don't need) and the shirt (which I definitely would wear.) Here's all three, all going on my wish list!

Yes, I am a little obsessed with this whole "purple and gold" thing. ;)

Sickness and shoes

I think I just might keep this updated - for at least a little while. I went to bed last night thinking of things to blog about, and even dreamed about it. Yes, I get a little carried away with things. So sue me. ;)

Seems I now have the same crud that Wee One has had. She’s on a nebulizer every 4-6 hours for her coughing and congestion, and last night I didn’t sleep at all because I’m now coughing. I’m so tired today, and would love to go home and go to bed. However, I would also love to use my vacation days for actual *vacation* time, so as long as I’m not dying or contageous I’ll be at work. Sucks, but since I don’t do any physical labor (I sit at a computer in a darkened room and surf the net most of the day) I don’t want to waste the days if I don’t have to.

I broke down and bought some new shoes this past weekend. I’ve been wanting some red heels - sexy red heels - but couldn’t find any that weren’t $100+. I love shoes, but I also love paying bills, and since I’m broke, bills come first. Anyway, I finally found some that I LOVE.

And Hubby loves them, too, which is even better. ;) I wore them to work on Monday, and my co-worker told me I “whore it up well” and that all I needed now was a pole. For me to be such a sweet girl and to wear jeans and tshirts most of the time, the red heels were quite a change. I love these shoes.

And it seems Wee One loves them, too. What can I say? Like mother, like daughter.
