Still trucking along...

I've now been working out since Easter. That means that I have purposefully done some form of exercise at least 3x a week for a little over 15 weeks!! I've bought actual workout clothes. I have running shoes. I have more fitness apps than game apps on my phone. It's really quite bizarre!

I still can't run more than half a mile at a time (and I've only done that once!), but I am proud that I'm still doing it. It's unbelievable to me that I've stuck with something for this long.

I have an account on nikerunning.com, and update my info every time I run. I also signed up for challenges on there yesterday, and I'm very excited. The first one starts tomorrow, so I guess I'll be running on an off day! I also started thinking about if/where/when I'm going to run when we go to Disney. That's definitely something I never thought I'd be thinking about.

My weight and measurements aren't moving much, but I can tell I'm more tone and more fit than I was 15 weeks ago. I might have only lost 6ish pounds, but I definitely feel better, think I look better, and am looking forward to getting in even better shape in the future!

Disney, here we come!!

Last time we went to Disney, we pretty much did everythig we could. We were there for 8 days, so we definitely got our Disney fix! However, I know that there were things we didn’t get to do in the parks, and on this trip I plan on doing at least one thing in each park that we didn’t get to do last time! I’ve been thinking of what I want to do, and here’s my list so far. If you can think of others, let me know!

Magic Kingdom
There are quite a few here. For some reason we didn’t ride Dumbo or the Jungle Cruise last time, so I definitely want to do those. Also, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor and Storytime with Belle

Epcot
We didn’t get to see the Finding Nemo show last time, Spaceship Earth (it was closed), see Figment or ride on the Three Caballeros ride in the Mexico Pavilion. I’ve also realized since last time that there are acrobats in a few of the pavilions, so I definitely want to see them!

Hollywood Studios
So many things I missed last time! Indiana Jones, Studio Backlot Tour, Beauty and the Beast on stage, and of course, Toy Story Mania (which wasn’t open yet!)

Animal Kingdom
Again, so much stuff! I want to do the Wildlife Express Train, Kali River Rapids, Discovery Island Trails and the Fossil Fun Games.

And this doesn’t include the parades!! We only saw one last time, so I plan to catch as many as possible this time! Seems I missed more than I thought, and I’m going to have a hard time fitting all this in 5 days!! Thankfully we only have 38 days to go!

Just some updates!

It's been a very eventful week, and I'm sorry I haven't updated! Thursday before last (the 16th) was my birthday, and it was wonderful. They had ice cream at work, we went out for dinner, and it was a great day. After that, we got to see my dad, and Wee One had a wonderful time with Pappy Rue. It's been awhile since she's gotten to see him, so it was very nice! We got some great pictures that I will post at the end.

Last week at work was horrible (hence the lack of posting), but I managed to get a few huge projects off my plate, so I'm hoping work life will calm down some. This weekend we had a birthday party to go to, and it was SOOO much fun. It was for the other little girl that is going to Disney with us, and she turned 4. It was held at her grandmother's house, and there was a huge inflatable waterslide that even the adults could get on. Afterward they grilled burgers and fried fish, and we had a blast. We arrived about 1:45 and didn't leave until about 8:30 that night, and it was great to get to spend so much time with family. Again, pictures to follow!

I've been working out and am sill running, and I'm hoping that this week will be much better than last week! Here's hoping!

And now the photos!

A special birthday wish for Kahla!

Photobucket

Now, I promise there is a story behind this!!

When I was about 5 (which made Kahla about 9) we had a joint Strawberry Shortcake party. I can't remember who exactly made the cake (it was either one of our moms or our grandmother), but it was old, 80's version Strawberry Shortcake, and we both still have pictures of that day. I decided that since I wanted a cake like I had when I was little, and we both wish we could be together to celebrate this year, that I would recreate our cake to give her a special birthday wish, too.

I called my grandmother to get the cake pan (Old Strawberry Shortcake, of course!) and was assured that she had it, and she would meet me with it. I met my aunt, and she handed over not Old Strawberry Shortcake, but New Strawberry Shortcake. I was more than slightly disappointed because she hold no sentimental value to me at all. However, I only had 2 days until I was making the cake, wasn't able to go home to look through my grandmother's cake pans, and couldn't find one except on ebay (which wouldn't get here in time.) Out of desperation I decided to go ahead and make New Strawberry Shortcake instead (and yes, *I* made her, icing and all. And yes again, it took me forever to get her decorated. I have a whole new respect for every family member that has ever star tipped a cake!)

So, Kahla, I know it's not quite the same, and I know we're not together and getting ready to play in the slip-n-slide, but happy birthday. I wish you would have been there to help me blow out the candles. I love you and hope your birthday was wonderful!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I wanted to wish my very awesome, excellent (slightly older than me) cousin, Kahla, a very happy birthday. She's in Disney World at the moment celebrating with Mickey, and I know she's having a blast.

Happy Birthday Kahla!!!!

And on the sickness front, Wee One is back at the sitter's today. Her fever broke and she was fever free all weekend. She's feeling MUCH better, and I'm glad she's not sick anymore!

Scare of my life

Wee One has been sick since Tuesday, and her fever has spiked as high as 104 but has usually stayed around 102. Today I went to give her the medicine and noticed that she was SOOOO hot. I took her temperature, and it was up to 105.3. I (understandably) freaked out, and called my Momma. She told me to put her in the tub, so I did that and gave her some Motrin. I also called the doctor to let them know how high it got.

Thankfully now it's back down and she's acting fine. I'm to alternate motrin and Tylenol every three hours until the fever breaks, and take her to After Hours if it spikes that high again. I'm very grateful that it's down, but so scared that it's going to happen again. That's definitely the most scared I've ever been.

A Blast from the Past

My birthday is coming up next week, and Wee One and I were discussing birthday cakes. She’s decided I need a Belle cake with a dress made of yellow icing and sprinkles and candles. Since I don’t have a Belle pan and don’t plan on free-handing her, I started thinking of other options. I decided that since it’s my last year in my 20’s, I really wanted a cake like I had when I was little. You know the ones...your favorite character shaped pan, covered with thousands of little star tips in different colors to make the designs, and very 80’s. I made up mind on which one I wanted, and called my grandmother (the one that owned the bakery) to ask if she still had her old Rainbow Brite cake pan. I LOVED Rainbow Brite as a kid, and now really really want a Rainbow Brite cake. However I told her that if she didn’t have it, the original Strawberry Shortcake or Care Bears would be ok, too. I should know something today or tomorrow. ;)

But while I was looking for Rainbow Brite cake pans on ebay (and I found one for $11 including shipping), I came across a few other memories from my childhood. I discoved that Jem (who’s outrageous! Truly, truly, truly outrageous!) is a very high priced toy now, and you can buy pretty much anything ever made that had her likeness on it. I also found quite a few Shirt Tales items, and a ton of Get Along Gang stuff. There was also a full set of Rainbow Brite dolls on there for about $40, and if I thought Wee One would appreciate it, I would so buy them. However, she’s only 4. I have a feeling “appreciation of Mommy’s old 80’s toys” isn’t high on her skills list yet!

I’ve now asked Mike to go look for some Rainbow Brite cartoons to download, and am tempted to get old Care Bears and maybe My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake as well. My child already loves the old cartoons of Scooby Doo, Transformers, GI Joe and He-Man (all her daddy’s favorites) so I guess it’s only right that we now introduce her to my childhood heros. I hope she loves them as much as I did!

So frustrating.

I decided at Easter when I stepped on the scale that afternoon and it said 183.4 that I was going to do something to change that. I've tried to watch what I eat, keep salad stuff at the house, drink more water and have started jogging 3 mornings a week. I weigh myself and take measurements every Sunday, and last week was so good. I was down to 173.7, and all my measurements were down as well. I had finally started to lose again, and it was so nice.

We went to Louisiana this weekend to see friends, and I screwed it all up. I didn't take my shoes and clothes to run (and at 8 in the morning it was already over 100 degrees outside), and I did nothing but eat all weekend. Went to do my weigh-in this morning, and I'm up over half a pound, and all my measurements are up, too. It wasn't NEARLY this hard to put the weight on, but I'm constantly amazed at how hard and frustrating it is to take it back off. I have 14 lbs to lose to make it to my goal by Disney, and less than 9 weeks to do it. I have a feeling it's not going to happen.
